The Growth and Revenue Cycle Director at Pitt Dental Medicine provides strategic leadership for identifying and implementing growth initiatives for the school. In addition, this role provides oversight and direction for the revenue cycle workflow within the school's clinical operations. This individual will play a pivotal role in optimizing revenue growth and financial performance through effective management of new strategic initiatives as well as ongoing patient access, billing, coding collections, payer contracting, and compliance activities.
This position reports to the Vice Dean for Business, Operations, and Strategy.
The ideal candidate is an innovative leader with a strong background in clinical operations and fiscal optimization with experience in the dental field especially with coding and revenue cycle management.
University Dental Health Services, Inc. (UDHS) is a private dental practice staffed by the licensed dentists who serve as faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. UDHS dentists include general practitioners as well as periodontists, prosthodontists, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, maxillofacial prosthodontists, anesthesiologists, and oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

Job Summary
Directs the budgeting process and oversees the analysis and review of financial information. Leads team and establishes the direction, goals, and implementation strategy of the department. Formulates, implements, and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Collaborates with key stakeholders and evaluates success of department.
Essential Functions
Strategic Planning and Growth
Identify key strategic initiatives that will lead to revenue growth for both the school and the faculty practice.
Lead the implementation of strategic initiatives to maximize the return on investment for the school.
Develop and implement initiatives to enhance the growth, reputation, and financial performance of the faculty practice while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Identify opportunities for innovation in service delivery, technology integration, and operational processes.
Evaluate emerging trends and best practices in clinical operations and fiscal management to inform strategic decision-making.
Work with leadership to align financial strategies with operational goals, fostering a culture of fiscal responsibility and accountability.
Financial and Operational Oversight
Oversee day-to-day finance operations of the dental school's clinical facilities, including both the student clinics and the faculty practice.
Implement and maintain systems to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including denial rates, collection percentages, and patient billing accuracy.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators for revenue cycle performance and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure proper coding and documentation for clinical services in accordance with ADA and CDT coding guidelines.
Collaborate with department chairs and program directors to integrate technology solutions to improve workflow, reporting, and transparency across the revenue cycle.
Work closely with faculty, administration, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between fiscal operations and institutional objectives.
Leadership
Supervise and mentor billing support staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
Physical Effort
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.
