UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes five schools (medicine, nursing, health professions, public and population health, and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities.
The UTMB Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is seeking applicants for the position of Residency Program Director in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This role encompasses leadership of the CODA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program, with responsibilities that include direct supervision of residents in both clinical and didactic settings, development and refinement of the weekly didactic schedule, and implementation of new programs to enhance resident education. The successful candidate should possess comprehensive experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and will be expected to develop their own clinical practice alongside their administrative duties as Program Director. Additional responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching, supervision of residents, direct patient care, including on-call coverage for trauma and emergency cases, participation in research initiatives, and completion of related administrative tasks.
Minimal Education and Experience:
- A DDS/DMD degree, with or without an M.D. from a CODA-accredited US or Canadian dental school.
- Completion of a CODA-approved Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
- Fellowship Training is desired but not required.
- U.S. Board certification.
- Eligibility for an unrestricted Texas Dental License.
- Previous administrative experience, particularly in the teaching of residents and running a residency program, is required.
